Art to Art
Art Safaris

Hotshot or snapshot? Simple skull or serious skill? Real artist or just a media tartist?
When in need of a little guidance in today’s somewhat fickle art world, get active on an Art Safari.
Run by respected gallerist Rita Gayford, these are guided tours, on demand, of London’s smaller, more cutting-edge sites. Having worked in almost every area of contemporary art for 25 years (she’s presently owner of online portal The Rational Gallery), Gayford has impressive contacts.
Each safari consists of a visit to a handful of galleries, and takes about two and a half hours. Gather some friends (max ten people, from £20 a head) and visit such establishments as White Cube, Haunch of Venison and Rebecca Hossack galleries, where you can look, touch — and possibly buy — in peace.
Masterpiece or miss-it-piece? You’ll soon know your Hirst from your Holzer.
And bypass all the con artists along the way.
