American Dream
Augustina Opens

There’s Prada and Balenciaga. Then there’s Primark and Topshop.
And the problem with both extremes: you’re never the only one wearing them.
So where to find those funky, independent designers whose wares bridge the gap between the two — and actually make a statement?
At Augustina, which opens today. The luxury accessories boutique — the second portal from owner Cristina Burgess, whose Toronto store is already a hit — sells American labels exclusively.
Find bags by New Yorker Andrea Brueckner (whose crackled leather satchel is très next season); jewellery by Temple St. Clair, Alex Woo, and Becky Kelso (her cocktail rings are legendary); and an 18 carat gold collection by Me & Ro. Lizard skin clutches come from B. Romanek, and shoes and bags from Gryson, founded by a former accessories designer at Marc Jacobs.
Everything’s pricey, but it’s all unique, which means you won’t bump into twenty others sporting it to the same event.
Unlike a certain supermodel’s pansy-print design that’s currently circulating the universe.
