Lucky Seven’s always rammed; Bumpkin and The Cow are packed. Fresh & Wild’s gone, and E&O’s just plain overpriced.
It’s scary to think that the residents of Notting Hill could actually starve.
Thank goodness, then, for the latest addition to West London’s gourmet stable: Crescent House. Set on two floors of a converted 18th-century pub, with high sash windows and plenty of polished wood, Crescent House has a bar and dining room serving Modern Euro grub. It also has a leafy garden, complete with bar and fragrant herb bed.
Nibble on bar snacks like deep-fried whitebait with saffron aioli, a Neal’s Yard cheese plate or a suckling pig sandwich with duck fat chips; whilst in the restaurant, there are seared Scottish hand-dived scallops and Gloucestershire Old Spot belly pork with cauliflower puree, followed by hearty puds.
Looks like — thank heavens — the neighborhood will live to eat another day.
