You know your Ming from your bling, your chops from your sticks.
So you’ll be delighted to hear that contemporary Orientalism is the order of the day at The Landau, which opens in The Langham London for lunch and dinner tomorrow. The restaurant sits alongside the popular Artesian bar, also designed by David Collins, who’s adorned this latest eatery with silk chinoiserie and jade leather banquettes.
Food, on the other hand, covers many a continent. We’re talking pumpkin soup with cepes and quail egg or seared blue fin tuna with mango, followed by Gloucester Old Spot pork fillet with langoustines, sweet potato and morel stew. Puddings are just as twisted: Granny Smith apple mille-feuille comes with sherbet and chocolate oil, while carrot mousse is complemented by orange, almonds and apricot sauce.
Exotic?
You’ll smack your chops.
