Waterloo Brasserie Opens

Want to catch a real shooting star?
Gawp while you gobble as luvvies and thesps tread the boards at Waterloo Brasserie, a new all-day eatery that opens opposite The Old Vic theatre today. Considering its location, it’s sure to become something of a green room for many a lead.
Like its potential clientele, the menu is full of complex character. For breakfast, there are egg yolks cooked in their own shells, topped with herby whipped cream and served with chunky dipping chips; for lunch, crispy brie tarte Tatin with shallot confit; for dinner, octopus civet with mashed tatties.
Don’t want the full production? Grab a quick croque monsieur, baguette sarnie or one of many fresh patisseries to ward off hunger pangs.
And, perhaps, fainting spells.
Waterloo Brasserie, 119 Waterloo Road, SE1 8UL (020 7960 0202 or waterloobrasserie.co.uk).
