The American Dream
American Vintage Clothing

If they’re brunette, they’d rather be blond. They order mung bean lasagna but spend all evening eyeing your steak. They’ve got a clean-cut look but hanker after dark European elegance.
Some people are never happy.
For French designer Michael Azoulay, the holy grail has always been laid-back American style. Cue his cult casualwear line, American Vintage. Launched in 2005, Azoulay’s goal was to create the perfect everyday tee. Now a full line of super-soft tanks, T-shirts, cardigans, dresses and scarves — all named after U.S. states and cities — look great layered up and paired with jeans.
His throw-on and go-to pieces might seem like the perfect addition to a preppy wardrobe but you can’t escape their effortless Parisian chic.
After all, you can take the boy out of France …
