Browns, Balenciaga, B-Store: there’s nothing like a little bit of blow-the-budget shopping in Mayfair.
So why should its drinking spots be any poorer?
Taking a cue from the area’s haute luxury, London’s latest members-only hangout, Molton House, which opens today, is out to serve the rich — and them only.
Located over five floors of a Georgian town house, the latest offering from Nick Valentine (of Cuckoo Club fame) is decked out with faux reptile skin, bespoke furniture and a stained-glass DJ booth.
Sip a Molton Mule or Champagne Daddy at the first-floor bar or gorge on Euro dishes like Cornish crab risotto with truffle and tobacco crème brulee in the second-floor restaurant (which, by the way, is open to the public when booked in advance). When you’re done, hit the dance floor downstairs.
It’s all very flash.
Which, for a very lucky few, is still the most fashionable way to be.
Molton House, 43 South Molton Street, W1K 5RS (020 7493 1688 or moltonhouse.com).
