Old is gold.
But not if it’s falling apart (take the Hoff or the James Bond franchise, for example).
For vintage numbers in dire need of updating or repair, embroidery designer Rachel Spencer of Heirloom Couture will give them the overhaul they deserve.
The Central Saint Martins grad (she also studied at the acclaimed Lesage in Paris) isn’t your average tailor: she’s a couturier and stylist with the skill to transform any dud, be it a 1950s cocktail frock or a classic 1970s Le Smoking tux.
Spencer works by appointment from her West London studio, where she also sells her own collection of vintage wedding dresses and accessories (most of which would happily pass as regular eveningwear). And she’ll source on demand. Currently in her collection: Jerry Hall’s wedding gown and kimono and a rare piece made by John Galliano whilst at school.
They’re golden.
