New Yorkers know a thing or two about food. (We’ll give them that, but we’re keeping Simon Cowell.)
Which is why news of the Lower East Liquor Bar and Bistro is making us giddy with transatlantic glee.
You’ll find stateside favourites such as clam chowder, strip steak and eggs Benedict at this new Canary Wharf resto, as well as Brit specialties like free-range pot roast chicken and fish and chips. Banquette seating and dark wood tables give the place an authentic feel, with an outside terrace overlooking the Thames — in case you forget where you are.
Pull yourself up to the bar by your bootstraps and order mint juleps, Manhattans, Bellinis and candy (strawberry bonbons, jelly beans, chocolate truffles). Do some name-dropping (ours) and get 50 per cent off all food for the rest of the week.
Sounds like an American Dream.
