Your first-form P.E. teacher taught you to cradle a lacrosse stick and pace yourself on a long run.
But her shiny purple shell suit taught you that fashion and sports don’t mix.
That is, unless you’re talking about Maia Norman and her recently relaunched sports-inspired label Mother of Pearl. An avid surfer (and long-term partner of Brit artist Damien Hirst), Norman fuses high-performance fabrics with sharp tailoring and elegant cuts.
Blazers with strong shoulders, lazer-cut T-shirt dresses, hooded jackets, cocktail dresses and playful printed leggings are made from innovative materials such as silks with Nano-Tex and Texchem waterproof finishes, as well as stretch wool and leather.
Not exactly appropriate for catching a wave.
But swell nonetheless.
