Flippin' Sweet

Jonboy Caramels

jonboy caramels!

You were schooled not to take candy from strangers.

So allow us to make an introduction.

Artisan confectioner Jonathan Sue and biz partner Jason Alm’s sweet Jonboy Caramel treats are charmed, we’re sure. Named for Sue’s childhood sobriquet, the delicious chews originated as holiday gifts for family and friends who encouraged the candy man to take them public — to the benefit of yours.

Sue crafts the candies by hand using simple organic ingredients, Skagit Valley cream, and no corn syrup. The molasses-ginger or fleur de sel caramels come wrapped in unbleached parchment paper and packaged in recycled cardboard gift boxes ready to be bestowed. Or kept.

Just be aware of their addictive nature.

You’ll be pleased to eat them.

Available at Whole Foods Market, 2001 West 15th Avenue (206-352-5440 or wholefoodsmarket.com); Blackbird Candy Shoppe, 5465 Leary Avenue (206-547-2524).
