Life is about simple pleasures. All we want is something good to eat. And for it to please stop raining.

We found help for the first bit: Nikki Crichton’s new lunchtime delivery service, Niknoks, which transports fresh sandwiches, soups, cakes, canapés and salads anywhere in Hackney.

All ingredients are locally sourced, everything is prepared on-site, and the menu changes seasonally. If you have a craving for something not on the menu, ring it through in the morning and Crichton will try to whip it up by lunch.

There is a five-person minimum: place an order for the whole office or invite your friends. It will arrive either on foot or by bicycle. Though Crichton can’t fix the never-ending rain, her mission is to create delicious food with the lowest carbon footprint.

So you can’t say she’s not trying.
