What with Facebook, Twitter and the gazillion tweenkling blog stars, the kid stays in the picture extraordinarily easily these days.
Coco Fennell (youngest daughter of jewellery designer Theo Fennell) is certainly staying on the scene. Two years after launching her fashion blog (at age 20), she’s now using it to sell her new eponymous clothing label.
The affordable debut collection consists of unusual, well-cut dresses. Find prints (pirate ships, poppies, fencing men) made in collaboration with up-and-coming British illustrators, body-con velvet and LBDs, along with unexpected spiked epaulettes. It’s a homegrown effort: styled by the designer, modelled by a friend in Fennell’s flat-cum-studio in East London’s Shoreditch and sold online in a nonseasonal, marketplace fashion.
Fennell replenishes weekly depending on demand, and the pieces — unlike the designer — aren’t sticking around.
