If local dining leaves you whining, spice things up with Gingerline.
The new company — named for the same-coloured East London tube line — hosts pop-up restaurant and art evenings in clandestine venues in and around the east end.
The Gingerliners are devoted to gastronomic adventures and artistic tomfoolery. Every party is shrouded in secrecy: Become a fan of Gingerline’s Facebook page to be notified of the next event. If you book fast enough, you’ll be directed (via text message) to a station on the East London line an hour before the festivities begin. You’ll then be led to an undisclosed location for dinner and performances by poets, writers, artists or actors (dressed in fantastical costumes).
One recent production was held at Prangsta Costumiers in New Cross with a menu of wild boar dumplings, venison ghoulash and toffee apple dessert.
Should you wish for something even more over the top, Gingerline also arranges private parties.
The future’s bright for this lot. Some would say it’s orange.
