So far the royal wedding has given us souvenir condoms (her parents must be so proud), dress knockoffs, commemorative beer and a lovely extended Easter holiday.
Still not enough monarchy for you? Head to Guts for Garters — a new gallery-slash-concept store opening today in Camden.
Founders and art historians Rachel Chudley and Cassie Beadle have commissioned up-and-comers like Andrew Walker, A Child of the Jago and Carrie Reichardt to create works inspired by the British royals. Everything from the inaugural collection (The Royal We) is up for grabs: bespoke wallpaper incorporating witty cartoons of princes Philip and Charles; vintage clothing by Biba and Norman Hartnell (the queen’s dressmaker); as well as signet rings, anarchy crockery and Victorian furniture.
The space will stay open six weeks before shutting down for one month to prepare for the next showcase, entitled Surreal Women. We predict it will be equally majestic.
