Top Secret Memo

To: Inspector Jacques Clouseau

Re: Pinky Panther rings

Bonjour, Inspector. A gang of cat burglars is on the prowl. Their crime? Stealing the over-the-top glamour of vintage cocktail jewelry.

Masterminds Karolina Maszkiewicz (a onetime Gap designer) and Bianca Di Cesare (a Vivienne Westwood sales consultant/showroom owner) modeled their line of fierce, feline-themed rings after a gold panther that Di Cesare’s grandmother habitually wore on her pinkie.

The result: a new generation of gilded big cats (gleaming fangs, gemstone eyes) that are no bungle in the jungle. Pounce on the current styles, available in three species (panther, jaguar, tiger) and finishes (fourteen-karat gold plating, silver plating, bronze). The holiday collection (custom colors, a baby panther edition) has us wrapped around its little finger.

The gang shares the wealth, too, donating 20 percent of proceeds to Panthera.org and L.A. Animal Services.

All they need is a jazzy theme song.
