Chef Alain Giraud’s Resume
Objective: To give you a quality, ingredient-driven BLD experience (with a hint of Provence, bien sûr) at his new Pacific Palisades restaurant, Maison Giraud, opening Monday.
Experience: Anisette Brasserie, Bastide, a stellar turn at Test Kitchen.
Qualifications: Set in the old Dante space, the bistro-cum-bakery is an intimate affair (French linens, chalkboard menus).
Skills: Early birds fuel up on fresh-squeezed OJ and pastries (chausson aux pommes, brioche fine) courtesy of former Anisette pastry chef Noubar Yessayan. Hearty soups and sammies entice the lunch bunch. Dinner follows the lead of the Santa Monica Farmers Market with seasonal fare (veggie risotto, Mediterranean sea bass with clams and chorizo) and a three-course prix fixe menu starring a monthly rotating ingredient (this month, pear). French beer on tap flows like the Seine.
Extracurricular Activites: Giraud’s wife, Catherine, commandeered the storefront next door for her home accessories company, Lavender Blue, where you can stock up on lavender-filled pillows and sachets.
