Five slashes in her job title, and Kelly Wearstler still felt like a slacker.
So the L.A.-based interior decorator/fashion designer/jewelry maker/bag maven/housewares guru went for a sixth: boutique owner.
Her eponymous shop, now open on Melrose, brings the assorted collections of her burgeoning empire under one roof.
Dive into racks of painted silk blouses, shrunken tie-dyed blazers, and colorful frocks. Snazzy accessories, like pyrite cube bangles and lapis and brass rings, speak to a mod glamour. Sculptures, including her famous Brass Legs, along with cashmere throws and fine china are also up for grabs.
Wearstler designed the store’s skinned herringbone walls and ebony/ivory color scheme; the raw yet refined space feels as warm as one of her home interiors — albeit one where the furniture (three-legged chair with textural hide, perforated brass table) and artwork are for sale.
This is one slasher we applaud.
