Black Hogg Restaurant Opens

Go Hog Wild in Silver Lake

black hogg gastropub!

If reality TV has taught us anything, it’s that names can be deceiving.

Case in point: Black Hogg. The swine-sounding moniker of the new Silver Lake restaurant is actually farm speak for a year-old lamb. But that doesn’t mean you won’t pig out.

Chef/owner Eric Park (The Spotted Pig, Eleven Madison Park) sources quality local ingredients that make foodies and chowhounds alike weak in the knees. Start with a slurp (oysters with pickle juice mignonette) or crunch (popcorn bacon with maple crema) before moving to heartier fare (roasted marrow bones, ale-battered cod).

Ready to get your snout dirty? The juicy lamb burger (Park’s trademark dish) comes piled perilously high with blue cheese and spicy habanero onions, or try the longaniza sausage hash. For dessert, peanut butter-banana-chocolate chip sticky buns are as decadent as they sound.

They make us squeal with delight.
