The Tasting Kitchen's Secret Cocktail Menu

Sip and sh

The Tasting Kitchen’s Casey Lane may be gearing up for a summer opening double hitter (The Parish, Itri), but that doesn’t mean that he’s forsaken his home plate.

Case in point: the restaurant’s highly confidential, rotating artisanal cocktail list. Discretionary servers slip it to deserving patrons (i.e., those who venture beyond the rote vodka soda order).

According to head bartender Justin Pike, the six-drink list — printed on kitschy postcards from the ’50s and ’60s — provides his team the chance to flex its creative muscle. If a concoction proves especially popular, it wins a spot on the main menu.

Current offerings include the Port Royal (rum, crushed ice, house-made cola, a dash of absinthe) and the Manhattan-style 5,000 Neckties (rye whiskey, aged cachaca, sweet vermouth, maraschino cherries).

Next week’s menu overhaul issues new highlights like The Hasselhoff (tonic, German bitters, whiskey) and the Mancini West spritzer (anisette, amaro, soda, citrus juice).

Come thirsty and with a designated driver. (Boozin’ and cruisin’ is never a smart combo.)
