No need to run for your life — this docile takeover is the SoMa Streat Food Park, opening tomorrow.
Inspired by Portland Street food pods, founder Carlos Muela seeks to bring stability to the gypsy lifestyle, giving once Twitter-stalked trucks a permanent space that mitigates all the things detestable about the scene.
Lines? Credit seven days a week to lessen the queues. Lunch or dinner? Try both. Culinary boredom? Up to ten trucks rotate daily (starting with Sunrise Deli, Golden Waffle, Slider Shack, and more). Unable to tweet your dish in a timely manner? There’s Wi-Fi. Tied to your two-wheeler? Plentiful bike parking awaits. Spillage, foot cramps, and braving the elements without a potty break? Heated, covered seating for up to 100 people and permanent bathrooms transform your experience from hellacious to downright lovely.
Expect movie nights and sports on the projection screen, plus a beer garden coming soon.
We’re 100 percent there.
