Summer vacay may be in full swing, but you’ll want to get schooled at La Otra Taqueria Escuela.
Restaurateur Steven Arroyo (Cobras & Matadors, Potato Chips) is the tattooed prof at the expanded offshoot of his nearby taqueria, Escuela. And you best pay attention.
Class begins with chewy chips, salsa, and guacamole served in jars. Tasty burritos, tostadas, tamales, and large plates (skirt steak, pork and green chile stew) are on the syllabus, but tacos are the main attraction — soft corn tortillas enveloping braised beef shank, slow-roasted baby back ribs, or fresh Maine lobster.
Note the quirky ceiling installation of vintage shoe forms and score extra credit with a side of elote and fresh agua frescas (the pineapple gets an A+). For now, it’s BYO cold ones.
A task you’ll certainly ace.
