Here’s the story of two croissant-craving gentlemen / Who put their heads together and came up with a hunch / L.A., they thought, was in need of a good French bakery / That’s the way they became the bready bunch.
Tired of laugh track-worthy loaves and pastries? B1 Breadshop is out to bring boulangerie-style baked goods to both sides of the 405.
With locations downtown and on Abbot Kinney (with more to come), the organic bakery serves baguettes and brioches, sweets (jesuites, palmeras), and buttery croissants (spinach and feta, Valrhona chocolate), all baked fresh daily.
Cruise in precommute for apple turnovers and Monkey and Son French press to go or plant yourself at a high-top table and soak up the coolly minimalist, white-on-white decor. For the lunch rush, there’s a selection of organic salads and sandwiches (Caprese, roast turkey with Brie).
Now all that’s missing is a catchy theme song.
