You know you should just say no, but it’s hard not to dabble in desserts.
Three slices later? You’ve sedated yourself into a sugar coma.
Instead, give your taste buds a high at Chocolate Lab, Michael Recchiuti’s dessert cafe, opening today in Dogpatch.
Step inside and things start to get trippy: algorithm composition playing in the background, seating designed at various heights (small spaces don’t have to be claustrophobic), handblown glass light fixtures dangling from above.
Recchiuti’s menu, inspired by his years as a pastry chef and travels with his wife, Jacky, is equally mind blowing. Get sweet on milk chocolate mandarin mousse cake or bittersweet chocolate jasmine custard; go savory with the goat cheese and Fatted Calf tartine or a cheese plate with mulberry crackers and Chocolate Lab honey.
Outdoor seating’s coming soon.
Don’t pass (out) on this one.
