Kerouacian daydreams rarely amount to more than cranking up some Miles Davis and day-tripping to Ojai.

But Adina Mills is the wheel deal.

Years ago the L.A. jewelry designer ditched her digs and job and hit the open road in a motor home.

Cruising the country, she sources material for her eponymous collection from off-the-beaten-path locales like Quartzsite, Arizona (where she keeps a studio and second mobile home), deserted Northern California beaches (for driftwood), and the Arkansas Ozarks (for quartz).

To create her one-of-a-kind necklaces and rings (bracelets and earrings coming soon), Mills sculpts and paints the base of each piece with a special blend of industrial-grade clay. Then she affixes a hunk of stone and mineral, resulting in statement-making jewelry that lets its freak flag fly (think: a salmon band cradling a mossy green conichalcite, a pale pink apophyllite pendant dangling from a bronze-hued setting).

Sal and Dean would definitely approve.
