Portland’s Famed Ice Cream Comes to L.A.

Salt & Straw debuts at Joan’s on Third

salt & straw!

What do you get the girl who has everything?

For Joan, Third Street’s purveyor of all things delectable and gourmet, a batch of award-winning, hand-crafted ice cream did the trick.

In a generous gesture of gastronomic proportions, Portland’s famous farm-to-cone confectionery, Salt & Straw, brought its frozen treats to the resto’s menu and grocery aisle.

Savor such holy-sh*t-that’s-good flavors as sea salt with caramel ribbons (hand-burned caramel spiked with fleur de sel), coffee and bourbon (Stumptown java meets Burnside bourbon), and chocolate gooey brownie with marshmallow fluff folded in for extra goo.

Be sure to sample the tangy Meyer lemon and blueberry buttermilk custard, a special creation made in honor of the company’s SoCal debut.

With more L.A.-inspired flavors in the works, this is the gift that keeps on giving.

Available at Joan’s on Third, 8350 West Third Street, at South Kings Road (323-655-2285 or joansonthird.com); at saltandstraw.com, $4-$6 for a cone; $11 for a pint.
