Walk the Line with Otaat/Myers Collective

Two L.A. creatives collaborate

Spontaneous architects are like cringe-free office holiday parties — they don’t exist.

Albert Chu and Jenny Myers are the exception.

The pair met briefly while studying architecture in Cambridge (smarties) and didn’t reconnect till years later in Los Angeles, where each was applying conscientious creativity to fashion: Chu designing leather goods for his line, Otaat; Myers, geometrically forward jewelry for Myers Collective.

The result is a sublime convergence of form and function: Introductions, the duo’s first capsule collection, comprises minimalist pouches in unconventional shapes large enough to stash the essentials. Crafted with refined brass detailing and vegetable-tanned cowhide or lambskin, the wristlets are casual enough for lunch runs yet worthy of cocktail party carries.

A collaboration of this magnitude can’t be chalked up to happenstance.

It’s all part of the grand design.
