Cooking with Friends
What: The brains behind Animal and Son of a Gun kick off the new year with a dinner series focused on Northern Italian cuisine, courtesy of James Beard Award-winning chef Jeff Michaud.
Why: Seven mouthwatering recipes (squash gnocchi, pork osso bucco) from Michaud’s inaugural cookbook, Eating Italy.

What: A Santa Monica Pier staple relaunches with a sleek new interior (white tiles, wooden communal tables) and a revamped menu of fresh seafood and craft beer.
Why: Nibble on grilled black tiger shrimp while enjoying the ocean view.

Core Fusion Barre at Exhale Mind Body Spa

What: Celebrate the Venice location’s new barre studio with a kickoff party (light bites, giveaways, hip-shaking tunes) and a week of free CBF classes.
Why: Your 2014 mantra is “tone and strengthen.”

L.A. Art Show

What: Gain serious culture cred at the annual exhibition of creatives from around the globe.
