Customizable vintage jackets and vests

From the played out (sorry, peplum) to the utterly unfortunate (never again, trucker hat), fashion trends come and go.

Make what’s old new again with Gull + Marie.

What began as a day-job diversion for Tiana Gallagher in 2012 has grown into a full-fledged business of remade-to-order vintage jackets and vests for men, women, and kids. Gallagher sources vibrant ikat and Southwestern serape fabrics from near (Downtown) and far (Mexico), then stitches them onto the back panels of preloved denim pieces to stand the test of time.

Breathe new life into forgotten jean jackets by sending the oldies-but-goodies for a custom revamp. Fresh off a closet cleanse? Gallagher sifts through local markets and secondhand stores for viable garments to make over: Simply provide your size, style, and wash preference, and she sees to the rest.

Her latest trick: applying the scour-and-sew process to chambray button-downs.

Now that’s classic.

Available at gullandmarie.com; orders start at $50.
