Congratulations! You finally figured out the difference between the Strokes and the Vines. You’ve painstakingly alphabetized your CD collection (strategically hiding your weak spot for Barry Manilow and Celine Dion). And your iPod is a fully loaded creature — a veritable handheld testament to your musical prime-mover prowess. You savvy little thing, you. But don’t go bragging to your friends just yet. A newer, even more up-and-coming, under-the-radar band has hit the scene, and it’s time for you to start mastering its tunes before the rest of the world catches on: Dopo Yume. (Which translated means “after” in Italian and “dream” in Japanese. How incredibly international.) One part Bowie with a little Pixies and a hint of the Beatles, Dopo Yume quite frankly rocks. And the five-man band is getting by with a little help from its friends: They’ve got Sean Lennon on piano and Bijou Phillips singing back-up and starring in a video. And then they have you, of course, mangling their lyrics, as you belt it out in the privacy of your car. What more could a fledgling band ask for? Dopo Yume’s CD, “True Romance,” is available online at dopoyume.com.
