Pussyfoot Salon Opens

The whole Zen thing is all well and good.

But sometimes you want a salon experience that’s a bit more, well, fun. Must beautification and relaxation always involve snooty aestheticians, minimalist decor, and strains of Asian Muzak?

Victor Lomeli, formerly of Fred Segal Santa Monica, thinks not. His new venture, Pussyfoot Beauty Lounge, is exactly what it sounds like: a sexy, loungelike salon that puts the parlor back in beauty parlor. After all, where else can you get waxed on a lavish tempurpedic bed in a bedroom environment? (Victor wants to expand the concept to blow-outs in bed, too. We like!) Other services — manicures, pedicures, hair extensions, airbrush tanning, basic cut and color — are performed in a space done up with pink chandeliers, big, comfy chairs, antiques, and a stripper’s pole (for those who dig the pole-dancing trend). A backyard deck, complete with hot tub, is in the works as well.

Finally, a salon that’s laid-back, intimate, and lots of fun.

And 100 percent Muzak-free.

Pussyfoot Beauty Lounge, 4010 Santa Monica Boulevard, at Sunset Boulevard (323-666-0500). Appointments may be made starting today. Salon opens for business Saturday.
