Salon Selective

Oh, the tragic hairdos you’ve had. The Unpremeditated Mullet. The Runaway Bob. The Feathered Nest.

Each one a disaster. Each one easily avoidable by a decent hairdresser. And yet you put it off. Why? Because, plain and simple, you fear salons.

All that noisy fabulousness can be a bit scary. But Salon Brousseau, a new spot in West Hollywood, could be the solution. It’s a hair salon for people who don’t like hair salons. Tucked away on a residential street, it’s a low-key, totally unsnooty answer to the intimidating, bustling, high-powered chop shop.

Owner Jeannine Brousseau has installed a Zen Den, a private area where, on occasion, there will be a tarot-card reader, numerology expert, or other therapist to help pass the time before your appointment. A dog psychic makes occasional appearances, so feel free to bring Fido along. It’s so laid-back you’d never know Jeannine has handled the tresses of Winona, Charlize, and Beck … until you see what she and her staff can do. Her inventive style of free-form cutting is tailored to each person’s hair texture, coloring, and face shape. The result is a ‘do that could turn even you into a loyal, appointment-keeping convert.

So pick up the phone. Don’t wait until that pixie cut morphs into a Marge Simpson.
