Stores are like suckers. There’s a new one born every minute.
And, like suckers, new stores often fall prey to a basic lack of savvy. It’s not enough to stock good merchandise. It’s the vibe. The space. The staff.
We found precisely that combination at Scout, the latest addition to the ever changing lineup of Third Street boutiques. Owner Greg Armas has outfitted one of the most user-friendly, stress-free, enjoyable little shopping environments we’ve seen in a long time: The space is minimal but warm; the merch is a combo of dead stock, vintage, and up-and-comers, like Tiny Armour Jewelry, Allin Scura Eyewear, and Queen of Plastics.
And then there’s Greg, who, at 25, may just be the cutest shop boy, like, ever. Always helpful and painfully honest (as in, he’ll actually tell you if he thinks you’re buying too much), he’s the sort of guy you just can’t wait to give your money to.
Which may leave you wondering who the sucker
really is.
