French for Beginners

Piper Club Cafe Opens

French food?

You love the stuff. French fries, French toast, French dressing, French’s mustard … All right up there.

So you’ll no doubt be seriously digging the Piper Club Cafe, a brand-new authentic creperie just like the ones in Paris. Its straightforward menu is almost entirely composed of both the sweet and savory varieties: chicken-apple-sausage with a medley of cheeses; crab-and-mushroom duxelles with ricotta and Parmesan cheese; and a dessert crepe filled with Nutella and topped with fruit.

The space is minimalist and clean, with slate-blue walls and chrome tables; the beverage selection is limited (synagogue proximity makes a liquor license unlikely), but any selection will go down nicely with a Pellegrino limonata.

Of course, you won’t find any of your favorite French foods here.

Then again, perhaps it’s time to expand your definition anyway.

Piper Club Cafe, 7169 Beverly Boulevard, between Formosa Avenue and Detroit Street (no phone as of yet).
