Rock and roll takes its toll. After years of hard living, you end up burnt out like Ozzy, bloated like Axl, or leathery like Keith.
Frank Studio’s Rock n’ Roll facial can mitigate the damage. The stage is set in aesthetician Danielle Morrida’s Santa Monica digs (an industrial space littered with Warhol prints and local art). For an opening act, you’re tucked into a cushy massage table reminiscent of a heated dentist’s chair, where Danielle dips your hands in hot hydrating paraffin wax and wraps them in plastic and terry-cloth mittens (great for those guitar-string calluses). Then for the headliner: face cleansing with citrus-and-herbal scrub — and perhaps an apple refining mask. (Don’t worry: She was trained by Madonna’s facialist.) The encore? A luscious hot-stone massage from fingertip to toe. Don’t forget to exchange friendly glances with Kelly and Sharon Osbourne or Gwen Stefani as you leave.
Because rock and roll may be here to stay.
But that doesn’t mean it has to look like it’s overstayed its welcome.
