Ooga Booga!
Sound like a big, scary monster? A hex? Something from a seance?
It’s actually an offbeat new boutique in Chinatown, where owner Wendy Yao — bookworm, punk musician, writer, DJ, and style maven — represents her eclectic interests and friends. Unusual? Yes. One-of-a-kind clothing from local designers and artists (including sister Amy, who makes adorable drop-waist sundresses), art books, rare magazines, and esoteric albums from grind to emo core can be found here.
This is all part of Wendy’s charmed plan to create a mixed-up artsy hub where musicians can act like designers, artists can act like musicians, and designers can act like writers.
And we all can pretend we are any of the above.
Looks like she’s created a monster.
