Art, it seems, will worm its way into our lives by hook or by crook.
Boutiques/galleries (and artists/designers) are a dime a dozen. Openings are the new singles bar. And “serious” artists adorn everything from our wallets to our T-shirts.
But there’s an unlikely alliance new to the scene. “Two by Two,” an exhibit opening tomorrow evening at Gardenia floral studio, unites two mediums rarely found together: painting and floral arrangement. Each colorful abstract work by Marjam Oskoui is paired with a floral arrangement by Gardenia owners Andrea Roth and Ilga Ziegler. The result is a wonderful meeting of the minds, and a great place to spend a few moments in contemplation.
The idea is to browse the exhibit as a kind of multifaceted sensory experience, taking in the visual elements, both two- and three-dimensional, as well as the fragrance of the flowers.
Truly a feast for the senses — and an innovative way to experience art.
Or to stop and smell the roses, as it were.
“Two by Two” is on view through January 31, at Gardenia, 5613 San Vicente Boulevard, at Hauser
Boulevard, L.A. (323-930-9470 or gardeniastudio.com).
