Except sometimes. Like when the wind howls and that shadowy ceiling crack starts to look like a girl-eating witch and you hear that creaking (moaning?) noise from the pipes (ghosts?) and you’re pretty sure you caught a glimpse of a toothy, hairy something or other in the closet …

Whoa there, fraidy-boots. No need to plunge into a scream spiral when you’ve got a night-light from Happy Owl Glassworks. The fused-glass plates, adorned with either a chubby bunny or a watchful owl, will take the spook out of the blackest night, reminding you that warmth and cuteness abound even when the sun don’t shine. Each piece is mounted to a light with an on/off switch. All you do is plug it in and let the hyperventilating abate.

Happy Owl also makes pins (love the porcupine!), cuff links, and super-cool chess sets. Every piece is handmade (so expect variation) and has a translucence that lights up the room.

All you’ll have to fear is fear itself.
