“Bi-coastal” doesn’t do you justice. You’re also bi-continental, bi-societal (and even a bit bipolar). With your ever-changing environment, social sphere, and moods, one wardrobe just don’t cut it.

That’s why Carol Young started designing for urban nomads everywhere. No more fluorescent in Tokyo, earth tones in London, black in New York, and pastels in L.A. Young uses textured fabrics (in place of traditional patterns) in muted colors to create a wardrobe that’s wearable year-round. A socially responsible citizen, she also uses at least one sustainable-environment fabric per season: Cotton recycled from chopped-up T-shirts, re-spun with acrylic and woven into sweater crepe, is found in her spring line. (Her holiday cardigan was made of recycled wool and soda-pop bottles. Ow.)

Still, the clothing looks more Issey Miyake than local hemp monger. Simple gray wool trousers have been dubbed “ass pants” by fans because of the amazing fit. The perfect way to feel good in your body.
