Objects of Des-ire

Des Kohan's New Boutique

Where to go when you need a break from your Spendy O’Shopperty ways? The Miracle Mile, of course.

Peruse the Peterson. Squint appreciatively at the Museum of Miniatures. Make a mental note of who’s playing the El Rey. Your retail fever is tamed in an afternoon. A miracle indeed.

Not so fast. There’s a new danger zone — and it’s not the Tar Pits.

Des Kohan’s new shop is a thousand square feet of temptation, smack-dab in the middle of museum row. Housed in a 1920s warehouse, the nature-minded midcentury-modern space is filled with handpicked items from tough-to-score designers like Hussein Chalayan and Jasmin Shokrian.

Also on hand is Kohan’s signature collection of simple, pretty tops and perfect dresses. Can’t decide if what you really need is an everyday tank or a once-in-a-blue-moon gown? Make an appointment with one of the celeb stylists. They make shopping feel like a true art form.

Miracles, it would appear, never cease.

Des Kohan, 671 Cloverdale Avenue, between Wilshire Boulevard and Sixth Street, Miracle Mile (323-857-0200).
