To hike or not to hike? That is the question.
After weighing pros (seeing pretty views) against cons (being seen in mountaineering boots), the answer’s usually “not.”
But even those with a standard aversion to dirt will be lured to The Trails. How? With pie.
The snack shack at the foot of the Griffith Park trails has reopened with a menu full of all-natural, homemade bites. Lunchy meat and vegan pies come with tasty dipping sauces like creamy cilantro and barbecue. Every day there are at least three organic fruit pies to choose from. (We recommend you cross your fingers and hope for peach — whether you go a la mode is up to you.)
They also have salads, sandwiches, vegan chili, a hot dog rolled up in flaky pastry called a Snake Dog, and a variety of other fresh-baked goods like ginger snaps, shortbread, and cupcakes.
Open from sunrise to sunset, The Trails is a great excuse to head to the park, grab coffee and a slice, and contemplate walking uphill for a long time.
Rugged, outdoorsy footwear not required, of course.
