Regular old everyday words go bad all the time.
“Flat” is the enemy when paired with “tire.” “Empty” is the worst when referring to your wallet. Some have even tried to make the words “baked goods” seem evil.
But R Bakery proves that’s not the case. The new storefront, opened by the beloved, recently departed Rockenwagner restaurant in Santa Monica, offers a tasty range of gourmet picks like German brioche, fruit streusels, and scones (ginger or white chocolate-raspberry, yum) mixed in with other freshly made muffins, croissants, and loaves of artisanal bread. And, of course, they’ve got their famous pretzels in twist, bun, or baguette form, too.
If you keep missing them at the shop — the bakery closes daily at 3 p.m. — you can also find them on the weekends at farmers markets in Santa Monica and throughout the city.
Because sometimes “work” and “day” are the dirtiest words around.
