Tips and tricks that’ll get you poolside at the Sunset Tower Hotel:
1. Get a room. (So obvious. Too obvious.)
2. Try a summer service at the Argyle Spa.
a) Book a poolside Startlet Shave. Show up with hairy gams and after a precision shave with a straightedge blade, moisturizer application, and a foot rub, you’ll be ready to soak up the sun in public for days.
b) There’s the custom massage. Then there’s the custom massage incorporating the Malie Mango Butter Cup. And then there’s all of that inside a cabana. And then there’s a nap in a lounge chair. (Wear sunblock!)
c) Arrive early for your HydraFacial. Pick a good seat outside. Leave a note that reads “Be right back!” on your stack of mags so that no one steals your spot while you’re inside (and unlike with standard Microdermabrasion, it’s safe for you to go out into the sun post-treatment).
3. Waltz in wearing a cotton turban, large dark glasses, a vintage bathing gown, and platforms. If anyone asks, introduce yourself as ZaSu Pitts, Paulette Goddard, or any deceased former resident of the hotel. They’ll either buy your ghost act or call the cops.
You may not fool them for long — or at all — but while security is on the way, at least you can get in a swim.
