Haus Party

Luxehaus Opens

See with your eyes, not with your hands. Yeah, yeah. You don’t need some cornball docent to tell you to keep your fingers off the Klimt.

But when it comes to shopping, the look-but-don’t-touch decree just isn’t going to fly.

So get handsy at Luxehaus, the home boutique opening tomorrow in Santa Monica, where you’re encouraged to handle their wares.

With a penchant for new takes on traditional techniques and materials, Luxehaus stocks a mix of everyday accessories and high-end pieces of modern and organic design.

Set alongside contemporary brands like Jonathan Adler, Missoni Home, and D.L. & Co., you’ll find old-guard European designs, such as a tabletop collection by Barnaba Fornasetti based on his father Piero’s graphic work from the ’50s, and the new unglazed line from Royal Tichelaar, the oldest porcelain company in the Netherlands.

Design buffs and common folk will appreciate that everything in the store is chosen for its good looks and practicality.

Most of all, they’ll be thankful for the store’s hands-on approach.

Luxehaus, 1410 Montana Avenue, between 14th and 15th Streets, Santa Monica (310-394-5200).

P.S.   The opening of Breadbar Century City as reported in yesterday’s Weekend Guide has been delayed. So sorry if you rushed over to carbo-load. We’ll keep you posted.
