They say that to get anywhere in life, you’ve got to put one foot in front of the other.
Gee, thanks. It’s called walking.
And Dewey, a new shoe shop on Abbot Kinney, will make sure your feet look good while you do it. The sunny spot has bright fuchsia and pale pink walls; white mod furniture; big rock and roll photos; and (most importantly) flats, heels, and boots galore.
Slip into a pair from Brits Olivia Morris or Rupert Sanderson. Try the Italians — Missoni and Alessandro Dell’Acqua — on for size. Or strut your stuff in the latest designs from New Yorkers Loeffler Randall, Jill Stuart, and Sigerson Morrison.
Plus, there are hometown labels like Twelfth Street by Cynthia Vincent and Twenty Two. After all, owners Gretchen Patch and Maya Lieberman (who’ve spent the past fifteen years doing the stylist/costume designer thing for television and film) are neighborhood girls who opened their shop close to home.
And that had nothing to do with having to walk a mile in three-inch heels.
Dewey, 1108 Abbot Kinney Boulevard, between Westminster and San Juan Avenues, Venice (310-392-2974).
