Velveteen Habit

The valet always asks if you’re checking in. As if. You both know you never plan on sleeping at the hotels where you eat.

Drop the act at Blue Velvet, a new restaurant and lounge with a travelers-at-leisure feel (blame the pool) but no overnight option.

Built using ecofriendly elements (renewable woods, wheat and sunflower hull paneling), the 6,000-square-foot space beneath The Flat residences is cozy and mod in blues and browns — save for a scarlet private room with fireplace in back.

Local, farm-fresh organic ingredients steer the seasonal menu, which reflects French, Spanish, and Asian influences. Bar bites like blue cheese beignets and flat breads are served at the sunken communal table, while more formal fare like fondue salad, corn agnolotti, and crispy skin wild bass is reserved for the dining rooms.

With tea-infused cocktails, a 120-label wine list, and desserts like chocolate roulade, you’ll wish closing time would never come.

Just remember: When it does, you’ll have to go.

But you can never check out.
