Poly Wants a What?

Karta Clothing

With all the attention these new ultra-eco fabrics have been getting, manmade fibers have ended up on the back burner.

Hello, hazard.

Thank goodness Karta was paying attention. And for their fall debut, they grabbed 100 percent chalfis polyester and managed to encapsulate old-school Hollywood charm.

Now this is not Tony-Manero-at-2001-Odyssey material. Chalfis is engineered to be soft and swingy but still hold a shape. In the hands of these L.A.-based designers, this means tops and dresses with clean modish silhouettes in green, cream, yellow, and black, a fresh Regency floral print, and eye-catching geometric patterns.

And here’s to heavy embellishments: You can find tonal appliques and Van Cleef-inspired baubles piled on just about everything.

It’s exactly the kind of thing that’ll get you fired up.

Available at Hillary Rush, 8222 West Third Street, between South Harper and South La Jolla Avenues (323-852-0088); online at shopbop.com.
