Your majesty, a reading from today’s news scroll:
His highness will be pleased to know that Crown Bar, the new West Hollywood eatery and watering hole, is open.
The brigade behind The Dime and Winston’s has fashioned a bit of a 1940s gentleman’s club. A marble-topped bar rules the amber-lit, wallpapered space; banquettes are ideal for sipping Top Cats (Manhattans poured Boston style) and New Fashioneds (Veev cocktails with blackberry and lemon).
Laze on a tuffet while enjoying snacks from the American bistro bar menu, like corn and crab fritters and grilled flatbread with prosciutto, caramelized onion, and fontina. Or head past the DJ booth to a proper table for pinot-braised short rib shepherd’s pie or a bacon burger with avocado. Shellfish platters and charcuterie may appear this summer — nice with a bottle of rose on the patio.
Dinner reservations are recommended.
You wouldn’t want to get royally screwed.
Crown Bar, 7321 Santa Monica Boulevard, between North Fuller and Greenacre Avenues, West Hollywood (323-882-6774). Dinner unavailable Wednesdays and Sundays.
