Royal/T is:
a) Queen Elizabeth and her funky bunch.
b) brilliant wordplay.
c) a contemporary art exhibition space/ultra gift shop/tea room/cafe.
If you answered c, you’re either a good guesser or you’ve heard of the new multifunctional space in Culver City. Though its gallery and retail components have been open for a bit, the long-awaited Royal/T Cafe is serving as of today.
Inspired by Tokyo’s trendy maid cafes, Royal/T offers eats like baked eggs with salmon, asparagus, and creme fraiche for breakfast and curry rice with chicken for lunch. In the afternoon, waitresses in French maid costumes present a full tea service with Japanese flair. After kappa maki and spicy tuna finger sandwiches, wander the exhibition as you digest.
Worried about sensory overload?
Yes, Royal/T certainly is that, too.
