Christmas Charities Need You

’Tis the season to give something back (and we don’t mean unwanted gifts). Spread some festive cheer to those less fortunate than yourself this Christmas.

Kids Company
What: Drop off new, unwrapped presents (clothing, toiletries, gift vouchers, toys) for London’s vulnerable and disadvantaged children or donate something from the John Lewis Gift List (list number: 341992).
When: Thru 23 Dec. Fri., Mon. & Tues., 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
Where: Wedge House, 38-40 Blackfriars Rd., SE1 8PB (07737 044190).

Crisis
What: National homeless charity seeks entertainers (singers, songwriters, magicians, musicians, cabaret artists, comedians, circus artists, bands, string quartets, choirs, bingo callers, DJs, karaoke hosts) to volunteer their talent for themed Christmas evenings at centres across London.
When: 23-29 Dec. Daily, noon-7:30 p.m. (day centres) & noon-10 p.m. (residential centres).
Where: Apply online at crisis.org.uk.

The Passage
What: Give new or gently used goods (food, cinema vouchers, toiletries, towels, linen, clothing, shoes in sizes 9-13) to make Christmas special at this 48-room hostel for the homeless.
When: Drop off 20-24 Dec. Sat.-Wed., 9 a.m.-9 p.m.
Where: Passage House, 1-5 Longmoore St., SW1V 1JH (020 7821 6801).

And remember: these organisations need help during the year, too. Charity isn’t just for Christmas.

It’s for life.
